Trump Announces Destruction of Venezuelan Facility
Trump initially revealed the military action during a Friday interview with a media outlet, stating, “We just knocked out… a big plant or big facility where the ships come from. So we hit them very hard.”
At Mar-a-Lago on Monday, while appearing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump characterized the target as an “implementation” site allegedly tied to narcotics trafficking.
He added, “There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs.”
Information about the strike remains limited. The precise location, tactics employed, extent of destruction, and potential casualties have not yet been disclosed. Both the Pentagon and US Southern Command redirected inquiries to the White House, which has not provided a statement.
Trump had previously suggested that Washington might carry out land-based attacks in Venezuela and had already authorized secret CIA missions there as part of a broader campaign to pressure President Nicolas Maduro. However, he declined to confirm whether the CIA played a role in this latest operation.
